About Matthew T. Schroeder, President, Anomalous Investments
Ivy-league educated, Matthew Schroeder graduated with distinction from Cornell University and earned his MBA from the University of California, Berkeley. Mr. Schroeder has more than 15 years of experience in finance, consulting and strategy positions.
Post MBA, he was recruited by Citigroup to work internationally, and during a 7-year tenure with the bank, worked in a variety of international postings. In his last position with Citigroup, he was part of the Asia-Pacific Regional Risk Management team, reporting directly to the Group Credit Officer, where he had responsibility for credit loss analysis, forecasting, and loan loss reserve provisioning for Citigroup's US$ 50 Billion consumer asset portfolio in the region.
Mr. Schroeder has been researching, analyzing & investing in the natural resources / commodities sector for almost a decade.
His investment thesis, based on extensive multi-year research, is that natural resources / commodities are excellent investments through at least 2015, primarily due to supply & demand dynamics and global macroeconomic conditions.
While at Berkeley, Mr. Schroeder was heavily influenced by the research of Nobel Laureate, George Akerlof, on asymmetric information, the work of David Teece on knowledge management, and the work of Barry Eichengreen and Andrew Rose into international currency regimes. These research topics and concepts are integrated into, and form a foundation of, AI's rigorous research & analyses into the natural resources industry. |
